Ondo Bizi
Arte egonaldia

In 2017, Mutur Beltz created Ondo Bizi Arte egonaldia – Artistic Residency for Good Living, in Karrantza. Expanding the space for reflection, debate, and dissemination on the situation of the sheep and pastoral world through art. To this end, each edition, a series of artists are invited to live alongside the Mutur Beltz family.
These creators enjoy experiences such as visits to different farmhouses, learning about the environment, meeting with the valley's shepherds and shepherdesses, etc. This gives them the opportunity to learn about pastoral work firsthand.
In exchange for the financial grant received, each participating artist creates a work and promotes it in different formats: open days, talks, debates, publication of a booklet, and exhibition of the works at the ArTzai TopaKeta Artistic and Agricultural-Pastoral Gathering, with the aim of promoting both the work produced and the Carranza Valley itself.
To date, more than twenty artists have participated: Nader Koochaki, Ohiane Sánchez Duro, Pedro Salgado, Itxaso Díaz, Onintza Etxebeste, Bruno Delgado Ramo Carma Casulá, Carla Boserman, Carmina + Diego, Aitor Saraiba, Marijo Ribas, Asunción Molino Gordo, Regina Dejiménez, Pedro Murúa, Mariona Cañadas, Sonia Navarro, Natacha Sansoz, Mikel Erkiaga, Maider López, Adrián Pepe, Irene Infantes, Idoia Cuesta, Enara Conde, Niño de Elche, Ernesto Artillo, Regina Quesada, Marie Isabelle Poirier Troyano y Patrick Fossey.
Mutur Beltz is committed to this type of circuit as a strategic space for action, reaching out to audiences unfamiliar with the problems of the rural world. It allows us to reflect on the role of art in the face of paradigm shifts in relation to the dichotomy between art and craftsmanship, the cultured and the popular, the rural and the urban, etc. This provides feedback to the other parts of the project, namely the wool, milk, and meat sections. Based on the research, musings, and innovations achieved through reflection and creative experimentation.
