Agropastoral Artistic Gathering,
Karrantza
Our first interactions with the town of Karrantza came from the Avascane Association and its annual event, a fair dedicated to its sheep. The idea of joining together from the Mutur Beltz association was motivated by common interests: to promote our endangered sheep, while exchanging and sharing knowledge. Between 2016 and 2019, the Mutur Beltz and Avascane Associations, together with the Karrantza Town Council, gave a twist to that fair to turn it into “Artzai Topaketa. Agropastoral artistic gathering”.
Contributing on our part tools from experimentation, artistic practice, social and cultural activism. Interested in a relationship with tradition and its reinterpretation, the transmission of knowledge or the connection with contemporary peasant thought. In this way, this meeting has functioned as a catalyst for both contemporary creative processes and the rural environment of the Karrantza Valley.
After a two-year break, in 2022, the Mutur Beltz family returned to Ambasaguas. But this time, in a different way, they no longer assume being in the organization, but are present and eager to enjoy this great day together with all the people of Karrantza and its visitors.
Here we leave you with a series of images of what those past and unforgettable days were like.
Thank you very much to all the people who participated in creating so many unforgettable moments.
