Five ways to cover the world
Five txanoak and a head that holds them up.
This is how Mutur Beltz’s new collection begins, a project that combines design, art and territory through carranzana wool.
Each piece is made from raw wool cloth from Carranzana sheep, an endangered native breed that inhabits the Karrantza Valley (Bizkaia).
TXANOAK MUTUR BELTZ is born from matter, from the relationship between the body and the environment. It is not just about covering the head, but about listening to the territory, translating it into form. Each txano is a small geography that shelters and remains.
The project continues Mutur Beltz’s quest to create from closeness and memory, transforming Carranzana wool into a living material that breathes sustainability, identity and thought.
At Mutur Beltz, we understand creation as an act of attention: observing the passing of time in the valley, the rhythm of the flock, the sound of rain on the roof. Listening before transforming.
Ernesto Artillo’s photographs, taken during our Buen Vivir 2025 event, accompany this collection with a sensitive gaze that unites body, landscape and matter.
The txanoak will soon be available on our website.
Until then, we will let the wool continue to breathe slowly, at the pace of the approaching winter.
