Mutur Beltz advocates for the recovery of sustainable resources, and part of this project has an Andalusian heart. Hence the collaboration with @pica.uva, which aims to highlight an almost disappeared art, such as the elaboration of raisin grapes in the Axarquia region of Malaga; creating with our wool the collection of earrings ALMATXAR that remember and sustain tradition and respect for the roots.
Almatxar is Almáchar, a town in the Axarquia region of Malaga that gives its name to this collection; a collection full of unconditional love from soulmates.
This design is called Ondo Pasa, which in Basque means “Have a good time.” In this way, we want to generate a play on words in which the elaboration of raisin grapes is also alluded to in some way.
General Details:
- The measurements of the piece are approximately 9x4cm.
- Collection designed and created in collaboration with @pica.uva from Malaga.
Pica.uva arises from a personal transformation, without wanting to leave behind the experiences of childhood and with the staunch desire to value the cultural tradition of the Axarquia region of Malaga. Borrowing the name with which the locals of Almáchar designate visitors, that visit is exposed with the eyes of curiosity, wanting to show a piece of Malaga’s culture. With the use of Mutur Beltz’s Karranzana wool, the constant journey that Andalusia has made to the Basque Country and Catalonia in search of development and hope for towns subjected to poverty and depopulation is combined. Therefore, pica.uva intends to expose the laborious art of the pica of the native raisin of the Axarquia region of Malaga.
- The colors used in Mutur Beltz wool (zuria, marroia, pistatxo arrosa y urdina) are 100% natural and derive both from a careful selection of the tones of the fleece of our sheep in the shearing process (100% BASQUE WOOL), as well as from the natural dyes of Tinkatoki.
All @mutur_beltz brand wools are animal cruelty-free. All the livestock farms we work with are extensive. Because at Mutur Beltz we consider key aspects such as livestock mobility and animal welfare. For us, extensive management is essential for the territory and society, since it not only generates quality products, but also shapes the landscape, helps control forest fires, regulates water cycles and soil quality, helps to enhance biodiversity and conserve cultural heritage and territorial identity.
