Yesterday we received the DEIA Laboral Kutxa Hemendik Sariak 2025 Award, a recognition that moves us because it comes from Enkarterri, the valley where Mutur Beltz was born ten years ago. Ten years of weaving together art and shepherding, wool and words, the everyday and the ordinary.
This recognition has a special meaning for us: it confirms that what comes from the land—its people, its rhythm, its raw materials—continues to have value. That there are other ways of doing things, slower, more interwoven, less spectacular, but deeply alive.
We would like to thank @elixanecg, journalist at @deia_eus, for accompanying us with her writing since the beginning. Her words have been a form of companionship, an invisible thread that has linked our work with that of so many people who, from different professions and backgrounds, support rural areas as a space for thought.
To all the hands that have spun, carded, sheared, designed, or dreamed with us: this award is yours too.
And although culture sometimes appears in spaces where the territory is barely noticeable, we continue to believe that design and art, to be authentic, must retain the scent of the earth that made it possible. Innovating is not copying life, but walking alongside it.
Thank you very much, Hemendik Sariak 2025, Elixane, and all the people of Enkarterri and Bizkaia who continue to weave networks that support others. Let’s continue to accompany each other, walking together.
